From Intention to Insertion-Acupuncture Clinical Skills Development and Practice
Scott Cedeño, Lic. Ac. is a 2007 New England School of Acupuncture graduate with eight years of acupuncture experience. Scott has apprenticed with David Euler at the Newton Acupuncture Center learning Kiiko Matsumoto style of acupuncture. Mr. Cedeño will teach From Intention to Insertion-Acupuncture Clinical Skills Development and Practice. The mastery of acupuncture clinical skill is ultimately a mastery of basic technique. A continuous return to fundamental principles is required to advance in skill level. Through repetition and guided practice, a focus on basic skills provides the acupuncture clinician an opportunity to truly explore the range and capacity of particular techniques. Clinical sophistication then develops naturally through the sublet and precise control of fundamental skills. The development of clinical excellence, and the expression of acupuncture as a true medical art, can then emerge as the practitioner scrupulously and effortlessly combines basic clinical skills, mastered through long practice, in original and creative ways.
This course will explore the development and refinement of acupuncture clinical skills through demonstration and guided practice. Beginning with intention, participant will learn to leverage this vital, yet often underdeveloped, treatment component. A Grand Rounds style case presentation will serve to illustrate the various essential techniques that patricians will then practice with one another. The instructor will critically guide and support participants as they work with fundamental techniques in a new light, explore their depth and nuance.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will have a new understanding and appreciation of fundamental clinical skills. The concept of acupuncture as a medical art will be developed, and the roles of originality and creativity in the formation of clinical strategy will be emphasized.
Course pending approval for NCCAOM PDA Provider #768 and NH Board of Acupuncture Licensing for 3.0 PDA Points.
